John Abularrage, president and owner of Advanced Radiant Design, Inc. of Stone Ridge, NY, was appointed recently to the newly formed Radiant & Hydronics Council (RHC) formed by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). Appointment to the council recognizes Abularrage as one “of the nation’s leaders in this vital industry segment,” according to the ACCA.
The Radiant & Hydronics Council’s initial scope of work includes:
“The formation of the RHC is a great step forward for the radiant industry, said Abularrage. “It will provide the necessary educational opportunities to a greater number of contractors. I am honored to be a part of the Council and to contribute my experience in the radiant heating industry.”

At the Annual Conference of the Radiant Panel Association (RPA) in May, Advanced Radiant Design received two first-place awards for radiant heating installations in this region. Held in Reno, NV, May 5-8, the RPA Conference Showcase awarded first place to Advanced Radiant Design for the company’s 50,000 sq. ft. installation of radiant heating in the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery in Woodstock, NY. The award category was Commercial Installations, and the project was featured as the cover story in the Spring 2010 issue of Radiant Living magazine.

The other first-place award was for an 8,500 sq. ft. radiant snow-melting installation in a private residence, also in this region. The award category was Snow/Ice Melting Installations.

About the snow-melting installation
Developed by the Radiant Panel Association (RPA) specifically for architects, specifying engineers, building designers, building officials, and general contractors, this course covers the variety of applications and equipment used in radiant heating systems. It provides the information needed to make informed decisions on when, where, and how to use radiant heating and cooling systems in residential and commercial buildings. Scheduling and sequencing is also covered to help construction professionals properly plan for and execute a successful installation. This course qualifies for 3.5 AIA Learning Unit Hours. Instructor Instructor John Abularrage has over 25 years of experience designing radiant floor heating systems. He is president of Advanced Radiant Design, Inc., a full-service design/build radiant contracting business in Stone Ridge, NY. John is an authorized RPA instructor as well as Certified Designer/Installer.

Deals with both hydronic and electric floor, wall and ceiling applications, include sample schematics and industry recommendations.
This course qualifies for 3.5 hours of AIA Learning Units.
